FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions and answers about Chain of Rights, blockchain IP, and decentralized storage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use Chain of Rights?
Anyone! Chain of Rights is open to artists, inventors, musicians, developers, organizations, and businesses worldwide.
Is my registration legally valid?
⚖️ Legal Notice:
Blockchain records provide tamper-proof, timestamped proof of ownership and are increasingly recognized in courts and by IP offices. However, consult an intellectual property attorney for formal legal advice in your country.
How much does it cost?
- Testnet: Free, except for a small gas fee using testnet MATIC.
- Mainnet: Minimal gas fees for registration, transfer, and disputes. File storage on IPFS is included for standard use.
Can I edit or delete a registration?
⛔ Immutability:
Once a work is registered on the blockchain, it cannot be edited or deleted. You may transfer ownership or open a dispute, but records are permanent by design.
What happens if I lose my wallet?
If you lose your wallet or private key, you lose access to your portfolio and cannot manage your registered works.
Always back up your wallet securely!
Where are my files stored?
All files are uploaded to the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), a decentralized network. This ensures files are always available, censorship-resistant, and never under a single party’s control.
Can I register any type of file?
Yes! Supported file types include PDF, images, docs, audio, and more (max 50MB per file). For larger or special files, contact support.
How do disputes work?
If someone registers your work without permission, or you believe a transfer was made in error, you may open a dispute directly from your dashboard.
All disputes are handled on-chain, and outcomes are transparent and auditable.
What if Chain of Rights shuts down?
Because your data is on the blockchain and IPFS, you retain full access and proof of ownership—even if our web app goes offline.
You can retrieve your works using your wallet and CIDs from any IPFS gateway.
